Tamazari | Project Management & Organizational Change Management

Make Your Next Technology Investment Work for Your People.

Successful technology modernization takes more than a well-managed implementation. It requires people who understand why change is happening, how it affects their work and what they need to do differently. From enterprise systems and utility modernization to fleet telematics, we help organizations manage both the technical work and the human side of change.

How Tamazari Brings Project Management and OCM Together.

At Tamazari, we believe project management and organizational change management (OCM) are most effective together. Project management establishes the structure, resources, accountability and coordination required to deliver an initiative. OCM helps people understand, prepare for and adopt the changes that initiative introduces. When combined, these disciplines help organizations protect their technology investments, maintain project momentum and realize more business value.

Putting Project Delivery Into Perspective

For Patty Griffith, Tamazari's project management and OCM practice lead, the relationship between delivering technology and managing change has been shaped by years of experience with complex implementations.

As a Prosci-certified change management practitioner, she has supported initiatives ranging from multiyear enterprise transformations to utility fleet technology deployments. Her experience reinforces a central principle of Tamazari's approach—technical implementation and workforce readiness must be planned and managed together.

Five Lessons That Shape Our OCM Approach

1. Understand the Impact Before Managing the Change

Not every technology implementation affects an organization in the same way—or affects every employee equally.

A new enterprise platform may fundamentally change how one department operates while introducing only a few new tasks for another. Treating these groups identically can waste resources and leave important needs unresolved.

Tamazari works to understand which teams are affected, how substantially their responsibilities will change, their readiness to adopt new processes and the support they will need.

2. Bring the Right People Into the Conversation Early

Stakeholder engagement is not simply a communications exercise. It can be a critical project dependency. People who are affected by change need an appropriate voice in how that change is introduced. Tamazari helps identify the leaders, workforce representatives, managers, subject matter experts and operational teams whose participation may be essential to project success. We then incorporate engagement and decision-making activities into the implementation plan, rather than waiting until an objection becomes a scheduling problem.

3. Make Change Relevant to the Individual

Tamazari helps translate broad project goals into practical, role-specific information that employees can understand and act on. For a fleet manager, that might mean clearer visibility into vehicle activity. For a mechanic, it may mean learning a new process for accessing maintenance information. For a project manager, it might involve moving from spreadsheet-based budgeting to a structured enterprise platform. The goal is to make the change meaningful in the context of each person's actual responsibilities.

4. Don't Underestimate the Importance of Training

Training is an essential part of organizational change management, but attending a presentation does not necessarily mean an employee is ready to use a system. Effective training must reflect how people learn and the conditions in which they work. During a Samsara fleet technology implementation, project leaders placed supervisors and managers in test vehicles so they could experience driver alerts and camera functionality firsthand. That experience gave leaders a practical understanding of what drivers would encounter. It also prepared them to explain the technology to their own teams from direct experience, rather than relying exclusively on outside consultants.

5. Make Change Management Proportional to the Project

Not every initiative needs a large organizational change management program. A multiyear enterprise transformation may require a formal governance structure, extensive stakeholder analysis, dedicated OCM resources and multiple deployment waves. In contrast, a smaller technology implementation affecting only a handful of employees may need a simpler approach focused on clear communications, practical training and post-launch reinforcement. Tamazari scales the work to the complexity and reach of the initiative.

Frequently Asked Questions About Organizational Change Management

When should organizational change management begin in a technology project?

Organizational change management (OCM) should begin during project planning, well before implementation or go-live. Early involvement helps identify affected employees, anticipate changes to workflows, assess organizational readiness, and address potential resistance. Tamazari integrates OCM with project management from the outset so workforce preparation and technical delivery move forward together.

How does project management differ from organizational change management?

Project management focuses on delivering a project within its defined scope, schedule, and budget. Organizational change management focuses on preparing people to adopt the new systems, processes, and responsibilities that result. Both are essential to successful technology modernization. Tamazari combines these disciplines to help organizations achieve technical milestones while building the workforce readiness needed to realize lasting value.

What does an organizational change management consultant do?

An OCM consultant helps organizations prepare employees and stakeholders for operational and technological changes. Responsibilities may include change impact assessments, stakeholder engagement, communications planning, training development, readiness evaluations, and adoption support. Tamazari tailors these activities to each project's complexity, operational requirements, and workforce needs rather than applying a one-size-fits-all methodology.

How do you measure successful technology adoption?

Successful adoption goes beyond completing training or launching a new system. Organizations should evaluate whether employees can confidently use the technology, follow updated workflows, and perform their responsibilities effectively. Measures may include system utilization, training proficiency, employee feedback, support requests, process efficiency, and operational performance. Tamazari helps organizations identify meaningful adoption measures aligned with their business objectives.

How can change management reduce risk during technology modernization?

Technology modernization can introduce disruptions when employees are unprepared, responsibilities are unclear, or operational workflows change unexpectedly. Organizational change management helps reduce these risks by identifying potential impacts early, engaging affected teams, coordinating training, and establishing clear communications. When integrated with project management, these activities help organizations maintain operational continuity while transitioning to new technology.

Change Managed. Value Realized.

The purpose of modernization is not simply to introduce a new platform. It's to help an organization accomplish something it could not do as effectively before. That may mean replacing manual processes, improving access to operational information, strengthening coordination across departments or making it easier for employees to do their jobs.

Realizing those benefits requires a project team that understands both the technology being delivered and the people expected to use it. Tamazari combines project management, organizational change management and practical workforce enablement to help organizations move from implementation to sustained improvement.
